Bikes, Brews and Breathwork: Restoration at a North Carolina Mountain Resort

Recently featured by Forbes as 1 of 5 Bucket List Destinations, Beech Mountain Resort offers a unique escape from our current reality. At an elevation of 5,506 feet, the view draws you in, while the adventure and entertainment will hold you there.

Whether you prefer the serenity of yoga (perched on a skydeck looking out from the highest peak east of the Rocky Mountains) or the heart-pumping thrill of ACTUAL mountain biking, this mountain resort has you covered.

Looking for a fresh adventure after a long #stayathome order? Get your heart pumping as you mountain bike on an actual mountain.

Yet in today’s restricted world, not everything is back up and running at Beech Mountain.

To enable their doors to open at all, the resort is taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of their customers. Placing hand sanitizer throughout, social distancing lifts, limiting the brewery to takeout only, and donning masks, the staff feel they are setting customers (and their pets) up for a healthy vacation.

Already daydreaming of what your safecation will entail? Just imagine you have just pulled into the parking lot on a gorgeous summer morning.

Adventure Awaits.

10 a.m. Grab your favorite cuppa, hop on the chair lift and soak in the view as you ascend to the peak and look out over Banner Elk. Once state restrictions ease up, you can start your morning with the mountain resort’s famous Mile High Yoga.

Mile High Yoga is one of many reasons to venture over to Beech Mountain Resort. While COVID-19 restrictions have it closed for now, resort employees are hopeful it will reopen yet this summer.

1 p.m. Time to ride! Grab your bike (or rent one from the resort) and hit the terrain! Whether you are a novice opting for a smooth trail or a pro seeking out rocky inclines and wood descents, Beech Mountain has the track [and lessons!]  for you.

Or if you’re not the thrill-seeker, spend your afternoon playing 18 holes of disc golf with your crew.

2:30 p.m. If all goes well and restrictions ease up on restaurants and bars, you can head on over to 5506’ Skybar. Pour a tall Beech Season IPA, bite into a Smashburger and kick back with live music from a local favorite.

Sip on a cold Beech Blonde from Beech Mountain Brewery as you soak in the scenery from the highest town in the eastern U.S.

5:30 p.m. Hop aboard the lift as you savor the evening sky and dwell on the day’s events.

7:30 p.m. If you time things right, you can cozy up on a blanket for a Movie Under the Stars. The resort will feature the classic film, The Great Outdoors, on August 8, 2020. And the brewery will also bring the refreshments.

Whatever you’re craving for your NC safecation, Beech Mountain Resort in eastern America’s highest town, is sure to satisfy your urge.
